This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a rotational post in Cardio-Thoracic Medicine at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The successful candidate will undertake and 18 months rotation spending 6 months in each of the following areas: Acute Respiratory unit / Cardiology CCU / Cardiac Catheter lab. During your time on each unit you will be assigned a Band 6 team leader and a buddy who will work with you to achieve the relevant competencies for each area.

During the final rotation in cardiac catheter lab there is the opportunity to undertake the RAPID – (Recognition, Assessment and Physiological Interpretation of Deterioration) at Birmingham City University at either degree or masters level.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with and learn from, 3 dynamic teams who are specialists within their fields.

ACUTE RESPIRATORY UNIT

Acute Respiratory unit is a dynamic and forward thinking unit. You will be part of a dedicated team delivering a high standard of nursing care to our respiratory patients. ARU is a 31 bedded unit that includes an 8 bedded high care area for non-invasive positive pressure ventilation and an Intervention Room for day case procedures.

Aconbury 1 & 2 -CARDIOLOGY / CCU

As the regional MI Centre for Worcestershire and Herefordshire, the expanding Cardiology unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital provides angiography and angioplasty as well as a 24/7 PPCI service. In addition to this temporary and permanent pacing and a complex device service such as CCRT’s and ICD’s are also based on site. We also offer Electrophysiology Studies and Ablations, There are two labs and a six-bed recovery area.

Due to the recent expansion of Cardiology and the opening of a new Coronary care Unit and Cardiology ward, which also includes of a Cardiology day case, An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this new busy Cardiology unit and we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced nurse with an interest in the high dependency care of cardiac medical patients. CCU / cardiology ward is a new department which has an acute cardiology unit comprising 10 CCU beds providing level 2 care, to complex cardiac patients including those requiring CPAP, inotropic support and IABP therapy. We also have 20 cardiology beds providing step down care and monitoring. The new expansion also provides a cardiology day case within the cardiology unit.

CARDIAC CATHETER LAB

We are looking for motivated, forward thinking and compassionate nurses to work within our nursing team in the Cardiac Catheter Suite / Cardiology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward thinking team. Cardiac Catheter Suite / Cardiology at Worcester includes 2 laboratories providing 24/7 PPCI for the populations of Worcestershire and Herefordshire. In addition we also undertake electrophysiology studies; ablation and implantation of complex devices.

We welcome newly or recently qualified staff nurses with good communication skills and pride themselves on delivering quality care under supervision.

We have an induction and teaching package for staff in the Cardiac Catheter Suite and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.
